.lila’s room faq.

colour inspiration: picking a colour palette was pretty easy. i found the pink dress form on lila’s dresser when she was around six months old and knew i wanted to include it somehow in her “big girl room” when she got a little older. when we moved into our new home, i painted the whole thing a few different shades of grey, and from there the grey and pink theme just fell into place 🙂

ruffle balls: i’m going to do up a tutorial in the next little while because it’s sort easier to explain with pictures, but these were made with the same ribbon that is hanging on the wall. i just stitched along one side of the ribbon, then pulled the thread taut so it all ruffled up, and used a few stitches to keep it in a ball/pom pom formation.

ribbons: there is probably another, much more savvy way to do this, but i just held each ribbon flush with the ceiling and used pins and a hammer to hang them. the largest ones have two pins and the rest have one. widths vary from 7/8″ to 2 1/4″.

bunting: also made with the same ribbon that is on the opposite wall. i cut out triangles and hot glued them to some string.

growth chart: this was super simple. i laid one long piece of ribbon alongside a tape measure and marked off each inch on the ribbon with square plastic sticker. i used larger squares for foot markers and smaller squares for the inch markers in between. i used self adhesive metal letters to write lila’s name at the top, wrote the date for each measurement on a piece of ribbon and attached the ribbon at the appropriate place on the chart with a brad.

lila: i’m not sure she has an opinion yet on much of the room but she certainly seems to enjoy being in there, and she definitely loves her dress up area and reading nook! we spend a lot of time with wings on in front of the mirror, and reading books (as well as climbing and jumping off of) the little chair 🙂
